Supplementary advice from A & C Black

Sports Supplements is one of three new books available from publishers A & C Black.

Written by sports nutritionist Anita Bean, it's an easy to read guide to nutritional supplements for anyone interested in optimising their training programme.

With a huge variety of products to choose from and all claiming a wide range of benefits, sorting out what's what can be a problem. However, this new paperback book - £6.99, ISBN 9780713682595, 200 x 135mm, 128pp, b & w photos - claims to cut through the hype and provide all the information needed to make an informed decision.

Also new is Anatomy of Exercise by Pat Manocchia, a paperback guide to strength training which takes a logical progression through:
- warm up
- stretching
- legs
- back
- chest
- shoulders
- arms
- abdominals

Every exercise of more than 100 included is fully supported with a detailed written description, a picture of the exercise being performed and a 3D illustration showing which muscle groups are being used.

The book - ISBN 9780713687217, 300 x 212mm, 192pp, colour photos and 3D illustrations - costs £14.99.

Finally, a new edition of The Complete Guide to Stretching is to be available from 17 December.
Written by Christopher M. Norris, it's in full colour with brand new photographs and provides an overview of the scientific principles behind this form of training and offers more than 70 exercises.

Said to be the definitive handbook for sports participants and recreational exercisers, sports coaches and fitness instructors and sport and exercise therapists, it costs £15.99, ISBN 9780713683486, 230 x 189mm and has 256pp.
